Tuesdays at Close Enough Farm

1-2 and 2:15-3:15, 6 weeks

Control Unleashed was originally created for agility, so let’s use it on the course! Whether your dog is over aroused on the course or when another dog is running, or your dog checks out from you and checks in with all the other people on the course, this class is for you. We’ll be using CU skills to create a calmer, more focused dog on and off the course. Please let me know your team’s experience with CU skills. Whether you have no experience, you’ve learned them on your own, or you have taken my Team Together class or my Control Unleashed Agility seminar, please specify. Let me know if you'd prefer to be in the class at 1 or 2:15. Maximum of 6 teams in each class.

Whether your dog is fearful, anxious, over-excited, or not, this class will provide your team with specific skills for moving comfortably through the world. Using exercises from Leslie McDevitt’s Control Unleashed books, you and your dog will become better members of your own team.

Class is 4 weeks and we’ll meet in different parking lots and parks and work with real life distractions as your team is ready. Please fill out the form below for more details including class days and times.

Try Nose Work for Beginners!

Nose Work appropriate for dogs from puppies to seniors and can be helpful for fearful or overly excited dogs. It’s a sport built from real life detection dog skills. In class, you’ll learn so much about your dog specifically and about dogs in general. You’ll get to know arguably the doggiest part of a dog, the nose! And, best of all, it’s fun for both of you!

NW for Beginners will be starting up in April in the Crozet area. This will be a 4 week series, will meet Sundays 11:45-12:45, and will cost $100. Class dates are April 18 and 25, and May 2 and 9. Team Together

Is your dog anxious or overexcited? Does your dog need some manners? Do you and your dog need to communicate better or build your bond? Whether your dog is old or young, a new member of your family, or the oldest dog member of your family, this class is for you.

Team Together is a class based on 5 foundation skills from Leslie McDevitt’s Control Unleashed books. In this class you and your dog will learn the skills and how to use them throughout many aspects of life. In the class we’ll be practicing them with minimal distractions and then build in distractions at the pace appropriate for each individual dog.

Class will be 4 weeks long, meeting on Tuesday evenings. We’ll meet for an hour each week at different locations in the Crozet and Charlottesville areas. Cost is $100. Who: Child and Parent with a dog/cat to complete the team

If you’ve got a kid who loves her or his dog or cat and wants to learn a fun, fast, and cool way to connect with said dog or cat, sign them up! This class is for kids age 10 and up (if you’ve got a mature little person, we can chat to see if this is a good fit). There will be some homework between meetings, but my main goal is for kid and critter to have fun learning together in this class so that the clicker skills they learn will allow them many more hours, days, weeks, and years of fun learning together.

We will meet online and I am limiting the class to just 4 teams, so everyone gets plenty of feedback and assistance. We’ll learn the basics of clicker training. You’ll train your critter in some foundation behaviors and fun tricks. All training is tricks training! Whether you, the adult, have already done clicker training or not, you and your child will be working together as a team with your critter.

Supplies: clicker, tasty treats, and a treat bag. Once you’ve registered, I’ll send an email with recommendations on these supplies. If you’ve already got them, you’re set.

4 weeks to learn and practice skills for navigating the whole wide world with your dog. Each week we’ll meet at a different location in Charlottesville and practice skills like your dog focusing on you with distractions, your dog settling (lying down and hanging out) in a busier environment, some management skills for sticky situations, as well as some work on stays for picture posing. This class is for friendly dogs and is open to different skill levels from beginner on up (if your team is advanced, you may want to use this for practice in new places). As a multilevel class, each team will work from their current skill level.
